Rushen Silver Band CD - Sounds of the South

Sounds of the South 1024x1014

Rushen Silver Band’s new CD ‘Sounds of the South’ was officially launched at their concert at St Catherine’s Church, Port Erin, on 10 July 2013.

Under the baton of Musical Director John Kinley and Assistant Musical Director John Collings the disc, recorded in March 2013 at Castle Rushen High School by Music House Productions (Producer Keith Farrington), has been kindly supported by the Gough Ritchie Charitable Trust.

The CD takes its name from the Band’s popular regular supporters’ newsletter and includes a range of musical styles reflecting the band’s place at the heart of the community of the south of the Island - marches, hymns, film music and Beatles - just some of the featured genres in this the Band’s third recording in its 64 year history –a successful first CD “A Diamond Celebration” in 2009 and a tape cassette in 1992 – a few rare copies of which do still exist!

CDs, priced at £10, will be on sale at all band events from 10 July 2013 onwards, and available from the Secretary, Peter Faragher: secretary@rushensilverband.org.im tel 493193.  A playlist for the CD is shown below:-
