As the band enters its busy festive season, the "next concert" scrolling information has been removed fro mthe website.  It will reappear in January!
 

20th November

Saturday 27th November sees an open afternoon at the bandroom to celebrate its 21st birthday.  On display will be various items from the bands history.  Refreshments and birthday cake will be served by the Friends of Rushen Silver Band. The open afternoon runs from 2-4pm.
 

19th November

The Friends of Rushen Silver Band Annual Chrismas Fayre and Coffee Evening is being held on Thursday 25th November at the Royal Hotel, Port Erin.  Stalls are open from 7.30pm and both the band and the bands learners will be performing.
 

19th November

The Rushen Silver Band AGM was held on Wednesday 17th November, and pretty much it is business as usual.  The main news of the night was the election of Mr Gerald Callister to be the band President, and the move of Mr Michal Kewley from band Presitdent to join the trustees of the band.

The band committee also welcomes Miss Charlote Bell to its ranks, in place of the two Johns, Kewley and Callister who have left for university in the last year.
 

25th October

The Friends of Rushen Silver Band will be holding their Annual General Meeting onWednesday 3rd November at the bandroom.  All are welcome, and for more information please contact the Friends.

The band is holding its AGM at the bandroom on Wednesday 19th November.  Again, all are welcome, and for more information please contact the band Secretary.
 

10th October

Once again the band was pleased to welcome its Musical Adviser Richard Evans to the Island.  A long weekend of rehearsals provided the basis for a workshop concert on Sunday afternoon, which featured, amongst other piece, the Four Noble Truths by Philip Sparke, and three of the four movements form Philip Whilby's Partita for Band.  A great weekend was had by all, with much progress made.  We look forward to seeing Richard back on the Island again!

Congratulations to Claire and Martin Norbury on the birth of their beautiful daughter Lucy Jasmine.  She was born on Sunday 18th July, weighing in at 5lb 15oz.  I'm sure we will be seeing her at concerts soon!

Good luck to all those taking part in the Friends of the Band Treasure Hunt tomorrow night, but remember - those who win have to set it next year!

Due the the webmaster being away over the next three weeks, and given the number of concerts he is missing (I did tell you Alan, honest) the scrolling next concert banner has been removed for a few weeks.  It will reappear on my return

And talking of christenings, congratulations to John and Jo Kinley on the christening of their son, James William.  He was 11 days old when he came to his first concert, and has been a regular ever since.

Although the weather was not great for this years Friends of the Band Summer Fayre, there was an excellent turn out, and we raised over £600.  Many thanks to all involved, including the guest players who thought they were coming for a christening!

The band were delighted to play at the wedding of John Kewley (our principal cornet) and Ann-Marie Taylor, at St Catherine's Church, Port Erin this afternoon.  Congratulations to you both, and we hope you have a great honeymoon, and life together, both in Ramsey and Glasgow.  By the way, pictures of both the wedding and John's stag night will be available on this site shortly!

The Friends of Rushen Silver Band Treasure Hunt has had to be postponed due to a clash with the concert at Castle Rushen High School. A new date has yet to be finalised, but will probably be in July.

Last night RSB competed in the Manx Music Festival.  We had a fantastic result, taking joint first in the March and Hymn class, 2nd in the Entertainment class and Ben Dunlop winning the Best Soloist!  Congratulations to John Kinley for all the hard work, and to the band on this fantastic achievement.

At the annual Band dinner at the Royal Hotel, Port Erin, the bands 2003 awards were presented.  This years winners were :
